Media and News with Stafford Meals on Wheels
This video was shown on Channel 10 TV News for National Meals on Wheels day on 28th August. All filming was done at our kitchen in Stafford. Every client received a cupcake from us as well as a gift donated by Regis Aged Care, Lutwyche.
Our Committee President, Jack Pool, is a finalist in Westfield Local Heroes. We are extremely proud of the work Jack does, not only here at Stafford Meals on Wheels, but throughout the community with other organisations as well.
He has a chance to win $10,000 for us here at Stafford Meals on Wheels, which will go toward keeping the cost of meals down for our clients. Winners are being announced on 14th October 2020
On Thursday 10th September 2020 a big donation of over 60 jigsaw puzzles from a previous volunteer, Linda, who used to deliver meals to our clients with her daughter.
We have offered all our clients a jigsaw each and many of them have been thrilled to say “YES” and are very grateful for the kind gif
The Samford Quirky Quilters group have been donating crocheted and hand-made quilts to us this year and we have been gifting them to clients for their birthdays. So, thank you Quirky Quilters. You have made a lot of people very happy.
The members of the Quirky Quilters group donate hours of their time sewing, knitting and crocheting for charity. Apart from their gifts to Stafford Meals on Wheels, the group has made and distributed many articles to the Mater Children’s Hospital, various Cancer Councils, Love and Care, Animal Welfare Groups, Careflight, The Department of Family Services, Royal Brisbane Hospital, Wildcare, Smith Family, Abused Women groups and individuals suffering from failing health issues. Their amazing patchwork quilts are often raffled by the receiving group to assist with fund raising.
Over Christmas the ABC radio ran its annual “QLD Gives” Christmas Appeal and funds raised this year were donated to Queensland Meals on Wheels (QMOW). In January 2018 QMOW distributed the donations to all Member Services. The total raised for the appeal was $132,295.94
Thanks to the generosity of Queenslanders every Stafford Meals on Wheels client received a FREE 3 course meal which consists of a freshly cooked meal, soup, dessert and juice.
